The team of the department of anesthesiology and intensive care provides services: ✅anesthesiological care; ✅preoperative preparation; and ✅postoperative treatment / rehabilitation;✅treatment of pain syndrome.
In the operating unit and auxiliary units (endoscopy, ultrasound, X-ray department) 4 anesthetists work, including 2 specialists specialized in pediatric anesthesiology.
On the basis of the Institute, 800 – 850 general anesthesias are performed annually in the operating unit, besides about 900 anesthesias in the auxiliary units.
Our specialists provide all types of anesthesia for emergency conditions in surgery, working in 24/7 mode.
They provide preoperative patient preparation and anesthesia services for hospitalized patients.
Obligatory pre-operative consultation with the anesthesiologist before surgical intervention is provided in the schedule of work of the clinic.
Intensive care unit
2 intensive care specialists work in shifts around the clock on a 24/7 schedule. More than 100 patients are provided with medical care during the year in this department. In case of emergency conditions, as part of the procedure, which has code 81❗️, our specialists can be mobilized for emergency care within 4 minutes to any department of the clinic where their help will be needed.
Anesthesiologists specialized in pain treatment will provide qualified advice on treatment of acute and chronic pain in various locations not treatable by traditional methods.
All anesthesiology and resuscitation department specialists work in our institute on a full-time basis.
Personal anesthesiologist is assigned to each patient of VALIKHNOVSKI SURGERY INSTITUTE, he provides responsible implementation of anesthetic management during every stage namely: preoperative consultation and examination, anesthesia itself, monitoring after anesthesia, treatment of postoperative pain.
During preoperative consultation, personal anesthesiologist chooses appropriate anesthesia technique or method based on the following, namely:
✅type of planned surgery;
✅place of operation;
✅presence of concomitant pathology in patient.
Consultation is mandatory in our clinic department of outpatient medicine at least 48 hours before the surgery.
During the consultation, anesthesiologist examinates patient and appoints a set of pre-operative laboratory tests and instrumental examinations and if necessary consultations of narrow specialists.
Anesthesiologist definitely informs patient and coordinates implementation of selected anesthesia method, indicating the advantages and risks of selected method, and also answers patient’s questions. At the end of consultation patient fills out provided conscent form and endorses its consent to anesthesia.

The multidisciplinary intensive care unit is equipped with:
✅anesthesia-respiratory equipment from Belgium by MEDIX Neptun
✅mechanical ventilation devices from Switzerland by DRAGER / SAVINA
✅oxygen concentrators that provide continuous supply of oxygen through central console of intensive care unit.
Supply and extract ventilation and air biofiltration systems work in constant mode in our department; department is equipped with intraoperative blood preservation units. This level of technical support allows to carry out complex, surgical interventions for long hours, provide postoperative care of patients with severe combined pathologies.
Intensive care and intensive care units are provided, as well as equipped with Siemens round-the-clock cardiomonitoring devices, BBRAUN automated nutrient solution and drug delivery systems, and Jonson Care (Taiwan) resuscitation beds with special anti-bedsore cuvettes that support patient’s temperature and microclimate.
